The Florida Gators strong run of commitments in June continues. The latest addition to UF’s 2026 class is Winter Garden (Fla.) Windermere 4-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh. He opened up recruitment and decommitted from Nebraska on Tuesday. He also took another unofficial visit to Florida, the same day he backed off that verbal pledge. It didn’t take long for Bronaugh to announce his next move, which came on Wednesday, when the flip was completed.

“It was really a lot closer to home for me,” Bronaugh told Gators Online on why the Gators were the pick. “I just love the whole campus and atmosphere. I also love the coaches. I’m so close with Coach [Deron] Wilson. Their whole academic side is huge, too. Having a degree from Florida carries a lot of weight, and then GatorMade has a lot to help set you up for life after football. Whenever that day comes, you know that degree is huge.”

CJ Bronaugh let the Florida staff know his plans earlier this week

Credit to first-year cornerbacks coach Deron Wilson for getting this done for the Florida Gators. After joining the Gators staff earlier this year, Wilson immediately targeted Bronaugh. Wilson made him a priority, and joined by head coach Billy Napier, the two made it a point to let Bronaugh know how much he was wanted. Their persistence paid off enough for Bronaugh to reconsider his initial commitment to the Cornhuskers. He let the Florida staff know his plans on Tuesday while in Gainesville.

“I was really happy to finally shut everything down,” Bronaugh said. “Just be at the spot I want to be at. I was in a meeting with Coach Napier [on Tuesday]. After that, all the coaches were waiting around outside the hallway. I let Coach Napier know during the meeting, and then everyone else outside of his office.”

While CJ Bronaugh let Florida’s staff know his plans to commit to them on Tuesday of this week, he already knew in his head that he would be taking his talents to The Swamp well before that.

“I don’t know that this was the exact moment with my full answer, but I had a moment there there was a big high, where I know I can go here and be happy. I would say my OV raised it for me. They raised the bar for me, and were up there ever since for me.”

CJ Bronaugh is commitment No. 13 for the Florida Gators

With CJ Bronaugh now in the fold, the Florida Gators sit with 13 verbal commitments in the 2026 class. He joins Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington 4-star WR Marquez Daniel, Tupelo (Miss.) 4-star Edge JaReylan McCoy, Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz 4-star WR Justin Williams, Milton (Fla.) 4-star S Kaiden Hall, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit 4-star quarterback Will Griffin, St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood 3-star OT Chancellor Campbell, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star IOL G’Nivre Carr, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville 3-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 3-star TE Kekua Aumua, Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding 3-star OL Tyler Chukuyem, and Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central 3-star OL Javarii Luckas.

The On3 Industry, a weighted average of the four major recruiting services, ranks CJ Bronaugh as the nation’s No. 106 overall player.
