'Bama Flip! 4-Star DE Javion Hilson flips commitment from Alabama to FSU
Florida State has been red-hot in the transfer portal for weeks, and now that momentum is shifting to the recruiting trail with FSU securing the commitment of four-star 2025 defensive end Javion Hilson on Tuesday.
Hilson, a Cocoa High standout who is rated the No. 2 pass-rusher in the country by On3, committed to Alabama in early December. But obviously a lot changed in the last week for the Crimson Tide — with the retirement of Nick Saban and hiring of Washington’s Kalen DeBoer.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Hilson is a top-35 player nationally and the fourth-best prospect in the state of Florida.
In announcing his flip, the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that Florida State has stayed on him since he committed to the Crimson Tide:
“I like the atmosphere and the fan base. My dad is a big Florida State fan and I grew up watching them and it’s close to home. I am a Florida boy and they’ve been recruiting me the heaviest ever since I committed to Alabama. Also, I can fit the best in their defense 4-2-5 as a true defensive end.”
Hilson becomes the fourth member of Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class. Three out of the four, including Hilson, are blue-chip prospects.
This moved the Seminoles to the sixth-best class nationally and No. 1 in the ACC.
