Alabama WR transfer Malik Benson Commits to Florida State
Florida State continued its run in the transfer portal on Monday with a commitment from former Alabama wide receiver Malik Benson. Benson chose the Seminoles over the Florida Gators, who he visited just the day before.
This commitment comes after Benson left his Florida State visit late Sunday night. It was clear then that Florida State made a huge impression on the portal prospect.

“Just the energy …,” Benson said. “Sometimes you go on visits, and it’s like a fake type thing, because you know it’s recruitment. They know I have one year left, and this was not really like a [normal] visit as you would say. Like, I didn’t want to take any pictures. I just want to talk straight business. So I think that was the most unique part — just talking straight business for the whole day.”
The Kansas native is leaving Alabama after just a single season for the Crimson Tide. He went to Alabama after attending junior college at Hutchinson Community College, where he was the No. 1 JUCO player in the country, according to On3.
While in Tuscaloosa in 2023, Benson had 13 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown.
Before the former Alabama wideout jumped on board, Florida State picked up commitments Satutday from former LSU wide receiver Jalen Brown and former Alabama defensive back Earl Little Jr. Then on Sunday, FSU landed former Colorado State defensive tackle Grady Kelly and former Indiana speedster Jaylin Lucas.
