Florida State secures visit from elite DE transfer Nic Scourton, makes Top 3 for RB Peny Boone
While the Florida State Seminoles are busy preparing for the Orange Bowl on Saturday, their coaching and support staffs are working to make high-profile moves in the transfer portal.
Purdue pass-rusher Nic Scourton, who entered the transfer portal on Thursday, has set up visits to Florida State on Jan. 3 and Louisville on Jan. 4, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Scourton, who checks in at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, led the Big Ten with 10 sacks this past season. He recorded 50 tackles with 15 tackles for loss, three pass deflections and one forced fumble this season. According to the On3 transfer portal ranking, Scourton is the No. 4 available player in the portal.

Florida State also was named as one of three finalists for prolific Toledo running back Peny Boone on Thursday.
Boone, who was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1,400 yards and 7.2 yards per carry, announced his finalists are Florida State, Louisville and Kentucky.
Boone had eight 100-yard games this past season and rushed for 15 touchdowns. The 6-foot-1, 242-pounder originally started his career at Maryland and entered the transfer portal again this week.
“These are three of the nation’s top football programs with a rich history of getting guys to the next level. All three schools have a need for a game-changer in the backfield,” Boone told On3. “I feel like schematically I am a great fit within each respective offensive system. The coaching staffs have been nothing but supportive and professional, and I look forward to calling one of these prestigious universities home.”
