Florida State’s impressive run of summer commitments is not slowing down just yet.

Four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete, who was strongly considering the Seminoles before committing to Southern Cal in early June, announced Saturday that he has flipped his commitment to the ‘Noles. He decommitted from Southern Cal on Friday as word spread that Florida State was gaining traction.

Itete now becomes the third offensive line commitment in the 2024 class for Florida State. And it’s just the latest development in what has been a very unpredictable recruitment.

The Seminoles actually were seen as the early leader in the spring for Itete before he took an official visit to USC and then committed shortly after that.

Even since that time, the communication between Florida State offensive line coach Alex Atkins and Itete has been ongoing. The Seminoles see the four-star prospect as a tackle who could play other positions on the line.

His last visit to FSU was for the Seminoles’ spring game in April. Itete was scheduled to take an official visit to Florida State in June, but that never occurred. That likely will not happen this fall.

“It was very good. I wasn’t expecting to see the way they were like playing,” Itete said after the spring game. “The game was very intense. The game didn’t even look like a spring game. It looked like a game. It was a pretty good performance by the team, so I do like that. …

“The atmosphere was good. The vibe was very good, so it was a very good time we had here.”

Along with Atkins and head coach Mike Norvell, Itete has said he also has a very close relationship with Darrick Yray, the Seminoles’ general manager of personnel.

Itete’s decision comes one day after Florida State landed five-star cornerback Charles Lester.
