Florida State added to its future running back room on Saturday as the Seminoles secured a commitment from four-star athlete Michai Danzy, a local product of Florida High in Tallahassee.

Danzy, who can play multiple positions, is the No. 4 athlete in the country according to On3, as well as the No. 21 prospect in the state of Florida.

There wasn’t too much competition here, as FSU held a commanding 99 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at the time of Saturday’s announcement. Nonetheless, Danzy committed to the Seminoles over their primary competitor: The University of Florida.

Danzy plans on being a two-sport athlete at Florida State; the rising senior runs track as well.

“They got so much better last season and I can see them making the playoffs this season,” Danzy said of his decision. “Coach [Mike] Norvell is doing a great job and I can’t wait to play for him.”

In an April interview with Warchant, Danzy talked about how the Seminoles’ coaching staff wants to use him in the offense.

“They kind of want to use me like [Lawrance] Toafili,” Danzy said. “I’m kind of taller, but I’m built. … We’re not short and stocky like other running backs. We’re just like fast. We can go and run some routes, we can do a lot of stuff.”

Danzy is the second running back commitment in Florida State’s 2024 class, joining four-star Kam Davis. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Danzy pairs naturally as the faster back to Davis’ more physical, 5-foot-9.5, 210-pound frame.

Florida State now has 18 commitments for the Class of 2024, a group that is now ranked No. 8 in the country.
