Georgia added its 27th commitment of the 2024 class on Wednesday and it did so via a flip from another SEC program. Christian Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) cornerback Ondre Evans came into the day committed to LSU but now he is a part of the Bulldogs No. 1-ranked 2024 class.

Evans took a mid-week visit to Athens recently and was wowed by the Georgia program. It didn’t take long for him to decide Athens, Ga. is where he wants to continue his college career. His junior highlights show why the Bulldogs made him a priority even after he had gave his pledge to another SEC program.

There are now three cornerbacks in the current Georgia class. Evans joins the nation’s No. 1 cornerback in Ellis Robinson (IMG Academy; Bradenton, Fla.) as well as top-100 overall prospect Demello Jones (Swainsboro, Ga.)

At just over 6-feet tall and 185 pounds, Evans ranks as the nation’s No. 134 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four recruiting services. He’s the nation’s No. 16 cornerback and the top prospect in Tennessee.

“Physically-gifted corner prospect with high-end athleticism and long speed. Has unverified size, but is listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds. Evans looks to have good length for the position. Is one of the top sprinters in the state of Tennessee. Finished second in the state finals with a 10.55 second mark in the 100 meters. Also posted a 21.85 second time in the 200 meters. One of the faster corner prospects in the 2024 cycle. A two-way player on Friday nights.

“Evans lines up as an outside corner on defense. Shows the long speed to carry vertical routes downfield. Time spent at receiver helps with his ball skills when projecting to corner. Making the full-time move to corner and needs to continue honing his footwork in coverage. Physical and athletic traits are ahead of his skill as a player at this stage. Has moldable attributes that point to a high upside but will need time to further develop his skills.”
