Wednesday was Recruiting Prediction Machine Day for the On3 Network. Dozens of insiders put in picks for certain players to end up at certain schools and it caused some movement in the RPM percentages. When it comes to Georgia and its pursuit of Calabasas (Calabasas, Cali.) athlete Aaron Butler, that just means an even bigger lead.

The Bulldogs now hold a more-than-commanding 96.9 percent of the predictive feature. USC and Texas A&M are also listed with the Trojans at 1.7 percent and Texas A&M with less than one percent.

Butler, a one-time USC pledge, narrowed his focus to five schools recently. Georgia is on that list along with Alabama, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. All of those schools are recruiting him as a wide receiver.

He visited Georgia’s campus for the first time in January and came away impressed. He has developed a close bond with wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon and sources tell DawgsHQ that Butler is at or near the top of UGA’s board at the position.

At 6-feet and 170 pounds, Butler is the nation’s No. 70 overall prospect and No. 4 cornerback per the On3 Industry Raning. He’s also the No. 8 player in California.

“Aaron Butler was among the top cover cornerbacks on hand and shined playing on both the left and right sides of the field for the Fast 7v7 national squad. The 6-foot, 170-pounder is incredibly athletic and is drawing college offers to play not only corner, but also wide receiver. Butler was fluid in coverage throughout the weekend and came away with a handful of breakups and a pick, and the game comes easy to the 2024 standout.” — On3 Scouting

Butler on the record…

The four-star prospect has told DawgsHQ that he has ties to the Peach State. He lived in the Atlanta area when he was younger and has family friends who still live in the area. He’s also in regular contact with the Georgia staff, including McClendon, Smart, and offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

“They’ve got the strength program,” Butler told DawgsHQ after his recent visit. “They showed me the strength program. They showed me how practice and everything is set up. We broke down film and stuff like that, how everything translates to the game. That’s the right system to get guys to the NFL because they run an NFL style offense as well. They literally run an NFL offense and they have six to seven scouts at every practice, coach (Kirby) Smart told me.”

The current plan is to take the month of March off in regards to visits before taking official visits in April. Georgia is set to get one of those for G-Day weekend (April 15). The expectation is that Butler will take all five official visits and his recruitment will run into the summer. He has not stated anything definitive when it comes to a timeline for a decision.
