Georgia has picked up a running back in the 2023 class. Roderick Robinson II, fresh off an official visit for the Auburn game, has flipped his commitment from UCLA to Georgia.

Robinson attends Lincoln High School in San Diego, Calif. If that name sounds familiar, it’s the same high school that former UGA running back and NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Davis attended.

At 6-foot-1 238 pounds, Robinson is the nation’s No. 246 overall prospect and No. 14 running back per the On3 Consensus. He’s the No. 17 prospect in California.

“I just loved everything they had going on at Georgia, from the brotherhood to the way the coaches interacted with all of the players,” Robinson told On3’s Chad Simmons. “And then the education is what set it off for me. In the SEC, you’re playing at the highest level against the best competition, and I feel like that gets you ready for the NFL. The coaching staff was just so genuine and the players got along with the coaches so well. And the education is top in the country.”

Georgia put on a run-game display for Roderick Robinson during his official visit. It lit Auburn up for 292 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 39 carries. If you remove the two kneel downs at the end of the game, the Bulldogs averaged right at eight yards per carry.

Maybe it was what he saw on the field or maybe it was the way he was treated in Athens, but the official visit seemed to make quite the impression on the talented tailback.

“I was considering Georgia before I came on my visit, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken my official,” he said to Simmons. “But if you asked me if I was going to flip the next day, I’m not sure. But the visit was great, overall I loved it, and I decided to flip. … It was after all my meetings with all the coaches. After talking with Coach Smart and Coach McGee, everyone was on the same page and had the same plans for me and my family.”

Roderick Robinson is Georgia’s first running back commitment in the 2023 class. The Bulldogs took two running backs, Andrew Paul and Branson Robinson, in the 2022 class.

All of Georgia’s five tailbacks have the ability to return for the 2023 season but three of them are eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft. Kenny McIntosh is a senior with a Super Senior season left. Both Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards are true juniors.

Georgia will likely continue to recruit running backs in the 2022 class in search of a playmaker to compliment Robinson. The Bulldogs currently have the nation’s No. 2-ranked recruiting class per the On3 Consensus team rankings.
