Georgia has added to its No. 1-ranked recruiting class for the 2024 cycle by flipping a talented prospect from an SEC power. Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn) cornerback Ondre Evans announced Wednesday that he has flipped his commitment from LSU to UGA, giving the Bulldogs 27 commitments in the current class.

Evans had been committed to the Tigers since June 15, approximately two weeks after he took his only reported visit to Georgia. He was on an official visit to Baton Rouge when he made the call and was coming off an official visit to Michigan.

The four-star defender holds offers from Alabama, Tennessee, NC State, Ole Miss, and dozens of other programs. HIs pledge gives Georgia three cornerbacks in the class as he joins the nation’s No. 1 cornerback and five-star prospect Ellis Robinson (IMG Academy; Bradenton, Fla.) and four-star, top-100 overall player Demello Jones (Swainsboro; Swainsboro, Ga.)

On3 Scouting evaluation for Ondre Evans

At just over 6-feet tall and 185 pounds, Evans ranks as the nation’s No. 134 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four recruiting services. He’s the nation’s No. 16 cornerback and the top prospect in Tennessee.

“Physically-gifted corner prospect with high-end athleticism and long speed. Has unverified size, but is listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds. Evans looks to have good length for the position. Is one of the top sprinters in the state of Tennessee. Finished second in the state finals with a 10.55 second mark in the 100 meters. Also posted a 21.85 second time in the 200 meters. One of the faster corner prospects in the 2024 cycle. A two-way player on Friday nights.

“Evans lines up as an outside corner on defense. Shows the long speed to carry vertical routes downfield. Time spent at receiver helps with his ball skills when projecting to corner. Making the full-time move to corner and needs to continue honing his footwork in coverage. Physical and athletic traits are ahead of his skill as a player at this stage. Has moldable attributes that point to a high upside but will need time to further develop his skills.”
