Indiana basketball wing Tucker DeVries was named to the Naismith Trophy Watch List — an award given to the top player in the country at the end of the season.

Indiana has only produced two winners — Scott May (1976) and Calbert Cheaney (1993) — since the inception of the Naismith Trophy.

In Indiana’s exhibition games, DeVries scored 23 points against Marian in the first half on 7-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds, six assists and just one turnover. He was 5-of-7 from three. Against Baylor, he was arguably more impressive playing against the length and athleticism that the Bears had on the perimeter. He had 18 points on 7-of-15 from the floor and added six rebounds and five assists. It included a go-ahead mid-range jumper with 45 seconds.

He transfers in from West Virginia where he averaged 14.9 points and shot 47.3 percent from three in just eight games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

Indiana has produced two winners (Scott May, 1976; Calbert Cheaney, 1993) since the inception of the Naismith Trophy, the most prestigious award in college basketball, following the 1968-69 season.
