How about a big-time Monday night commitment? Amiya Jenkins, a four-star class of 2022 prospect out of Anderson County High School, announced her pledge to head coach Kyra Elzy and the Kentucky Wildcats. The 5-foot-10 guard, who is an ESPN top 100 player in her class, chose UK over the likes of Tennessee, Rutgers, Eastern Kentucky, Penn State, Belmont, Dayton, and Virginia Tech.

Jenkins is now the fourth Kentucky commit from the 2022 class, joining Kentucky native Cassidy Rowe, Tionna Herron out of Texas, and Saniah Tyler from Missouri. Elzy is putting together an impressive group ahead of her second season as UK head coach.

Who is Amiya Jenkins?

Jenkins was named the MaxPreps Kentucky Player of the Year a season ago for Anderson County, averaging 17.2 points on over 54 percent shooting from the floor. She helped lead her AC squad to a 28-3 record and a semifinal appearance in the 2021 Girl’s Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena in the process.

You can make the case that Jenkins is the best player in the state of Kentucky this coming season. Adding Jenkins is a significant pickup for Elzy, who has begun to find her recruiting legs over the last few months.

“Amiya, simply put, is one of the best players in the state of Kentucky. We’ll just start right there,” Anderson County head coach Clay Birdwhistell said during this year’s Sweet 16, according to Chris Leach from The Anderson News. “What she’s able to do for our team is second to none. There’s some days she’ll have 10 deflections and some days she’ll have seven or eight steals and tonight we needed her to get rebounds.”

Jenkins is also a star track athlete. She currently owns the Anderson County school record in the 100-meter dash.

Welcome to the #ElzyEra, Amiya Jenkins.
