Ten minutes in, this was going to be a happy halftime update. Kentucky was on pace to score 100 points and cruising offensively, knocking down 3-pointers and getting easy looks around the basket. Ten minutes later, we’re now left talking about the same issues that have been plaguing the offense all season.

Dribbling the air out of the ball while milking the shot clock to set up a last-second prayer, poor spacing and inconsistent lineups, all leading to just eight points over the last ten minutes. Kentucky ended the half shooting knocking down just two of its last 12 shots, turning a potential blowout opportunity into a six-point lead at the break, with the Wildcats up 33-27.

Cason Wallace leads the team with eight points (2-4 FG, 2-2 3PT), four rebounds, two assists and a steal, followed by Chris Livingston with seven points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3PT) and an assist. Oscar Tshiebwe added six points (3-6 FG), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal, with Antonio Reeves also putting up six points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3PT), one rebound and one assist.

As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 40.6% from the field, 50% from three and 60% from the line while allowing just 40% overall and 18.2% from three for the Bulldogs.

Oh yeah, and Yale’s best player is out due to injury. So that’s good.

More like the first ten minutes, less like the last ten. One more half to go.
