The Germany/Poland border: amazingly, these posts will probably outscore the actual posts in tonight's game
If you read the
Herald-Leader this morning, you’re aware of USC-Upstate center
Nick Schneiders. The 7’2” German is not only making his collegiate debut, but his basketball one as well. That’s right, this will be his first foray in the art of organized basketball. What a matchup: a 7’2” German sans an ounce of hoops experience, vs. a 7’2” Pole whose only played basketball in theory. As the ripped out pages of history would indicate, the Germans are 1 up on the Poles, but rest assured
Big Woo plans to extract some territorial revenge against his Baltic brother this evening.
Jay "hova" Free
In my quest to acquaint us fans to the nuances and general make-up of USC-Upstate, I was directed to the ‘wylin’, ‘free-stylin’ musings of guard Jay Free by none other than “Touchdown” Tomlin himself: and might I say, what a find indeed. Already equipped with a stellar rap name, Jay Free waxes ‘floetic’ about each player on the roster. My personal favorite is his take on fellow guard
Daniel Quinlan:
“Next up is my man Daniel, with mad handle, if you try to take it from him, it’s bad ankles, breakin’ off guards make ‘em fall to they feet, makin’ no-look passes you can call him Pistol Pete…”
The best part about this verse is
when you look at Quinlan it becomes obvious that this is probably the first time he’s been mentioned in a rap song.
I’m glad Jay Free and his gang are tapping into the thriving hip-hop market of Spartanburg, SC, and I’m even more grateful that they posted it on their website.
So here it is folks, Jay Free and the Upstate boys.
