Over the last month, defensive backs coach Chris Collins has started to make some real noise in Florida and Georgia in the class of 2023. The former Georgia State recruiting coordinator has the Cats contending for another quality defensive player in the SEC footprint.

Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek linebacker Marcellius Pulliam released his top eight schools on Sunday. The high three-star linebacker included Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, and Mississippi State in his list.

Pulliam took an unofficial visit to Lexington in June as linebackers coach Mike Stoops is assisting Collins in this recruitment. The prospect released official written offers from just Auburn and Miami on Twitter as these two programs appear to be the favorites at the moment.

The prospect has an official visit scheduled with Bryan Harsin’s program in September for an SEC weekend when Missouri comes to Jordan-Hare Stadium. Marcellius Pulliam has visited Auburn three times since March and has also taken two visits to Georgia Tech.

However, both of those programs have head coaches who are entering hot seat seasons. A coaching change could be made at any point. Grant Godfrey is currently the only off-ball linebacker committed to Kentucky, but the four-star prospect has some outside versatility. If Kentucky is looking for a more traditional inside linebacker, Marcellius Pulliam could emerge as a key prospect as the 2023 cycle develops.

Keep this name in mind as Kentucky starts to schedule official visitors for the season. Chris Collins continues to make progress for the Wildcats in the SEC footprint. That is important and a strong development for the program moving forward.

Recruiting never stops.
