Jacob Hyde has another year of high school left to finish before he heads off to college.
But Kyle Scott of LEX 18 caught up with the first UK commit for the 2013 class and things look promising.
Hyde is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals and is listed at 6-2, 313 pounds as a defensive tackle out of Clay County.
The lineman sounds like a hard worker too — certainly a necessary trait to succeed in the SEC. He describes how his athletic ability came from almost nothing, to being able to
bench press well over 400 pounds. His high school coach says he is the strongest kid he’s ever met, and said Hyde tried to squad 680 pounds as a junior and permanently bent the bar.
Hyde has fans all across the state, including everyone in his hometown of Manchester. Take a look at the video below from Cats Illustrated. He seems like a good ol' country boy. And with an attitude like he displays here, has a whole lot of upside.
