Good morning and welcome to Week 3 of the Kentucky Football season. Glenn Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo Choo” is playing throughout the facilities (it’s probably not) as the team gets ready for the Mocs from the Southern Conference. Let’s get you ready with everything to know on this Monday morning of another game week.

Mondays with Mark Stoops

Mondays are for Mark Stoops and today we will hear from Kentucky’s head coach at noon and again at 6 p.m. on his busiest talking day of each week.

First, Stoops will hold his weekly press conference luncheon for the nerds like me over at Kroger Field. He will take questions about Saturday’s win after reviewing the tape and what’s ahead for the week in Week 3 of the season. KSR will have a live stream of Stoops’ comments here on the website.

Then later today, Stoops will take calls from the fans during his weekly radio call-in show from 6-7 p.m. Tune in.

New Top 25, No Kentucky

A new AP College Football Poll dropped on Sunday without your University of Kentucky Wildcats among the 25 best teams in the country. Not completely forgotten, Kentucky did receive votes (13) for the first time all season.

Also of note, there was a major shakeup among the top 10 again. Check out the new top 10 and in parenthesis how it looked two weeks ago to open the season.

1. Alabama
2. Georgia (Oklahoma)
3. Oklahoma (Clemson)
4. Oregon (Ohio State)
5. Iowa (Georgia)
6. Clemson (Texas A&M)
7. Texas A&M (Iowa State)
8. Cincinnati (Cincinnati)
9. Ohio State (Notre Dame)
10. Penn State (North Carolina)

Alyssa gets it.

New KSR Football Podcast

With apologies to Drake and Kanye West, the KSR Football Podcast will drop a new episode later today for streaming worldwide. Nick Roush, Freddie Maggard, Charles Walker, and I will meet this afternoon to recap Kentucky Football’s win over Missouri and what’s next with Chattanooga coming to town for Game 3.

Look for the new KSR Football Podcast tonight around dinnertime. Play it for the family over a homecooked meal. They’ll love it.

Sunday NFL Recap

The Titans really let me down and I’m not ready to talk about it. Please respect my privacy during this difficult time.

Monday Night Football debuts tonight

Lamar Jackson and his injured flock of Ravens have flown to Las Vegas for a Monday Night Football kickoff with the Raiders tonight. Baltimore is a four-point road favorite in Allegiant Stadium only days after losing starting cornerback Marcus Peters and running back Gus Edwards to ACL injuries in the same practice. Ravens starting running back J.K. Dobbins tore his Achilles in preseason camp.

A piece of positive news for Baltimore backers: The Ravens are 5-0 in season openers since 2016 with a 177-26 scoring differential.

UK Basketball Recruiting Continues

Kentucky Football is the focus these days; however, Kentucky Basketball is hard at work in the shadows. Last Thursday (Sept. 9) marked the beginning of the fall recruiting period, a 60-day window for college coaches to travel the country for off-campus visits and evaluation, including in-home visits with prospective student-athletes.

As expected, Calipari and his staff put their frequent flyer miles to work right away with visits to see 2022 targets Cason Wallace, Chris Livingston, Derek Lively, and Adem Bona, as well as 2022 commit Skyy Clark.

2023 super-recruit DaJuan Wagner Jr.—the No. 1 player in the 2023 class—also hosted Calipari for one of Calipari’s first visits on his countrywide tour.

KSR will stay on top of the recruiting moves in the days and weeks to come. Wallace and Livingston are officially on Commit Watch.

Fans First Fan Fest tickets still available

More basketball news, you can still buy tickets to next weekend’s Fans First Fan Fest.

This coming Saturday at Transylvania’s Beck Center, players from the Kentucky Basketball team will host their own basketball showcase (with help from ProCamps, Kentucky Sports Radio, and others) for the fans with the first major N.I.L. event outside of university operations. The Fans First Fan Fest is a player-driven event that will offer a first look at this year’s team featuring TyTy Washington Jr., Daimion Collins, Davion Mintz, Jacob Toppin, CJ Frederick, Keion Brooks Jr., Dontaie Allen, Kellan Grady, Brennan Canada Sahvir Wheeler, Lance Ware, and Bryce Hopkins. There will be a 3-point contest, dunk contest judged by KSR personalities, and more.

Reds Wild Card Watch

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Reds and fans of the Cincinnati Reds for reclaiming the National League’s second Wild Card spot opposite the L.A. Dodgers. The Reds dropped games at St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday, but the Dodgers swept the San Diego Padres in a three-game series to knock the Padres behind the Reds in the hunt.

Cincinnati has two three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates coming up. Pittsburgh has the third-worst record in Major League Baseball.

Matt Jones’ last day of quarantine

The Reds’ biggest fan has one more day of quarantine until he is freed from his house to return to Great American Ballpark and his day job. Matt Jones will do one more episode of KSR from home today and then he is back to regular life tomorrow morning, hopefully with the ability to smell.

Tune in to KSR at 10 a.m.

Go Cats.
