2024 Destrehan (La.) EDGE Kolaj Cobbins is one of the top priorities for LSU in the next cycle. On Christmas, he announced his Top 10 schools.

Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas and USC made the cut.

“I chose these 10 schools because these are the ones recruiting me the hardest and I feel like my success is going to be on one of these 10 schools,” Cobbins told On3. “Most of these schools are very successful in some kind of way. I’m looking for the correct major, good academic system and then the campus and coaching staff caring about me both in football and my life.”

Alabama: “You already know, Roll Tide. They’ve always been a successful program. They have so much history over there, especially coach Saba. Very dominant. I couldn’t go wrong with Alabama. Coach Pete Golding, he’s still coming to Destrehan and I had to go with Roll Tide. When I went on the visit, the atmosphere was real nice.”

Florida State: “That was my first offer, a big-time offer. I couldn’t go wrong with them. Coach YAC, David Johnson, the coach who offered me. He was at the school last year and they visited me. I went on a May visit, they treated me like family and I feel like I could make the Seminoles a better place. I couldn’t just set them to the side.”

Georgia: “You could just tell by how they were this year, they were a real dominant team. When Coach D had offered me and then I went on a visit and camp, I dominated their camp. The coaches loved me even more. Georgia, that’s a big SEC school. I feel like I can help them, too.”

LSU: “For one, it’s Louisiana. I can’t go wrong with that. It’s my home state. Two, the bond that I have with the coaches. Coach Kelly, coach Cain, coach Sherman, recruiting staff, coach House, it’s just very strong. The atmosphere at LSU, they just treat me like family. I definitely couldn’t go wrong with LSU. This being coach Kelly’s first year and they went to the SEC Championship game, they got so much more to improve on.”

Michigan: “They produce very well. The edges are so very well for defense. That’s what I liked about Michigan. Coach Ron Bellamy, he’s been hitting me up. Their d-line coach is hitting me and I’ll shoot them film. Michigan shows love and I like how they produce their edges.”

Ole Miss: “I’ve been there two or three times, not even coach Kiffin, but they like me, I like the atmosphere. It’s loud. I like their vibe. They’re energetic. It just fits me, too. Coach Joyner is about business, too. He’s always ready to work. He offered me and I was moved when I got Ole Miss.”

Oklahoma State: “They recently came in, but they showed so much love. Oklahoma is not close to my house, but they’re far and showed so much home. Coach DJ Mittens, the defensive line coach, he was talking about what they’re going to build there. He showed a lot of love, coach Gundy, too.”

Oregon: “Oregon, Florida State and LSU, they’re my dream schools. They were the ones I really wanted, especially Oregon. I got their offer and I was just so amazed. Coach Dan Lanning and the recruiting staff, they’ve been hitting me up a lot. I know down South, a lot of people don’t really get the Oregon offer. It’s far so I was so surprised and amazed. They did real good this year in the Pac-12.”

Texas: “Coach Sark, real cool guy. I visited Texas and coach Sark was showing a lot of love. He FaceTimed me every two weeks to check up on me and he said he’s going to come visit me. It’s a big city. I did real good at their camp. The coaches showed a lot of love. Coach Pete (), he’s coming to Destrehan a lot. Texas, coach Sark and the whole staff shows a lot of love.”

USC: “USC, that was the last one that I got. Coach Roy Manning, he came down here last week, watched us practice and that’s a long way from California. They did phenomenal this year. That’s why I had to go with USC. They showed love and the team as well was real good.”

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Kolaj Cobbins ranks as the No. 218 overall prospect and No. 17 EDGE in the nation.
