Michigan Edge Target Is A Beast!!! Damien Shanklin Michigan Football I Wolverines

On300 Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren EDGE and Michigan target Damien Shanklin tallied 12 total tackles, including 2 for a loss, in Friday’s playoff game. The Wolverine’s Zach Libby was onsite and captured exclusive clips from the contest. Watch highlights of Shanklin in the video above.

Shanklin Recruitment

Shanklin picked up a Michigan offer the week of the Michigan State game from pass rush specialist Dylan Roney and they’ve since built a close relationship.

“I just feel like he’s a really good coach and a nice person to bond with,” Shanklin previously told The Wolverine. “With him personally, I just feel like me hanging out with him will be good.

“Most coaches see that I’m physical and I have great film. They’re some coaches who’ll say that your film is good, but are other coaches who actually know where they need you and where they need to put you. (Roney) sees that I can fit into the program.”

Shanklin was originally scheduled to make his first-ever visit to Michigan earlier this month for the Purdue game. Instead, he’ll be on campus November 25 for the regular season finale.

“The d-line are playing their butts off,” Shanklin said. “They have the mentality where the motor is always going. It’s never going to stop. Other than that, I feel like it’s always going to be a good group of d-linemen who’ll come through Michigan.”

At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Shanklin is ranked as the No. 138 overall prospect and No. 11 EDGE in the country, according to On3. He’s also the No. 2 player in Indiana.

Michigan has three verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class – Top 100 Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald, On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith and four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka. The class is ranked No. 10 nationally, per the On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings.
