2024 recruiting for Michigan is soon to enter the June official visit slate with multiple prospects on both sides of the ball being favored to enroll in Ann Arbor, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

The Wolverine takes a look at two junior defensive standouts who Michigan is currently leading for, based on data collected by the RPM.

DL Devon Baxter, Brandywine (Md.) Gwynn Park

Devon Baxter is expected to officially visit Michigan on June 23rd. That weekend will also be the first time in which the DMV pass rusher steps foot on campus after a recent zoom call with the coaching staff and picking up an offer in the winter.

U-M staffer Dylan Roney is leading the way in this recruitment. Communication between Roney and Baxter takes place quite often. Baxter said that the former’s personality and vibe are what stand out whenever he speaks to him.

“I’ve always looked at Michigan as a powerhouse team,” Baxter told The Wolverine in April. “I don’t want to say it doesn’t impress me, but it’s kind of expected. They’re looking for the best of the best, and they’re going to develop them to the best of their capabilities. I want to go to the league, so I want to be pushed to be the best.”

The RPM gives Michigan a 53.8 percent chance of receiving Baxter’s commitment.

Baxter is ranked as the No. 372 overall prospect and No. 26 EDGE in the country, as well as the No. 12 junior in the state of Maryland, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

DL Michai Boireau, Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside

Michai Boireau just released a Top 8 list on Wednesday that had Michigan, Texas and six SEC schools all included in the cutdown of his offer sheet. The Wolverines have risen up the leaderboard for the 350-pound nose tackle this spring with Boireau also expected to be in Ann Arbor on June 23rd for an official visit.

Michigan was an early offer for Boireau and has circled back to develop a growing relationship. The coaching staff has done a really good job with getting in on dozens of Georgia native prospects with some having close ties to the state, including defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and linebackers coach Chris Partridge.

The RPM gives Michigan a 39.0 percent chance of receiving Boireau’s commitment.

Boireau is ranked as the No. 1010 overall prospect and No. 97 in the country, as well as the No. 110 junior in the state of Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
