How a WILD January for Michigan Football Impacted Recruiting | #GoBlue

Several topics were discussed on The Wolverine live Tuesday recruiting show with recruiting analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby, including the latest on Top 100 Conroe (Tex.) High cornerback and priority Michigan target Dorian Brew.

Watch the video above.

Brew Recruitment

Brew moved to Texas after spending 2.5 seasons at Clayton (Ohio) Northmont, where Michigan safety Rod Moore graduated in 2021.

Ohio State is the favorite to land a commitment from Brew, according to the On3 Recruiting Machine (RPM), with his mother an inductee into the OSU track hall of fame. But Michigan co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale flew to Texas to meet with Brew, who’s visited Ann Arbor twice, most recently for the late July BBQ at The Big House last year.

Brew was expected to drop a commitment on January 24, but has gone ahead and delayed it.

Here’s what Holland had to say about where Michigan stands for Brew.

“I think the pitch is, look at Ohio State’s corner room, it’s getting pretty big,” Holland said. “You just landed Aaron Scott, you just landed Bryce West, you just landed Devin Sanchez. So now, (the Wolverines) can tell Brew, ‘Hey, come to Michigan. Be a Buckeye. Go against the grain. Be like your former classmate Rod Moore. Play early.'”

At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Brew is listed as the No. 22 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting services. He’s also the No. 6 player in Texas.

Michigan has three verbal commitments in the 2025 recruiting class – On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens. The latter announced his decision on January 4 after two game-day visits in November. Kanka was the first to announce a pledge this past August.
