COLUMBUS — Ohio State has once again landed a big-time 2022 quarterback: Devin Brown has picked the Buckeyes.

The four-star quarterback — the No. 2-ranked passer according to On3.com — chose Ryan Day‘s program over Texas, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and others.

A 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect from Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) High School, Brown made an official visit to Ohio State on the weekend of Nov. 20. He left that visit telling Lettermen Row that he was feeling pretty good about his understanding of the Buckeyes program.

“Big Ten football is different, especially at Ohio State,” Devin Brown said. “Just the tailgating and everything beforehand and the fan base, everyone was so supportive and overall it was the culture there that stood out.

“It was a very family-oriented culture. Everybody was playing for each other and their locker room environment was very special. A lot of visits it kind of feels like you’re there forever. I honestly think it was good to just get there and meet the coaches.”

Originally committed to USC, Devin Brown decommitted from the Trojans three days after his Buckeyes visit. Ohio State offered Brown in October but had begun evaluating him in early September. He says he’s not concerned about the depth in Buckeyes’ quarterback room.

“There’s going to be competition at every school and I’m not scared to compete,” Brown said. “With the new transfer portal rules and guys not wanting to sit out, everything is going to be so different.”

An Elite 11 Finalist, Brown has become one of the country’s most sought-after quarterbacks in the last handful of months. Originally from Arizona where he played under former Buckeyes quarterback Joe Germaine, Devin Brown transferred to Corner Canyon before his senior season. He led the Chargers to an undefeated season. He put up gaudy numbers en route to a state title passing for more than 4,800 yards and 57 touchdown passes.

Devin Brown is commitment No. 17 for Ohio State in the Class of 2022.
