OU with an all-time shooting masterpiece in blowout victory vs. Stetson

Those holiday games can sometimes be tricky, or like on this night for OU basketball, they can be a walk in the park.

All about the focus. It’s pretty easy to focus when everything you shoot is going in the basket. Or almost everything.

The Sooners put on a shooting exhibition in whipping visiting Stetson 107-54 on Monday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.

OU shot 20-for-26 from the field in the first half and led 51-30 at the break. Then simply came out and made its first five attempts in the second half.

Unlike last week, there was no let up. The Sooners played with the lead just fine and cruised to win No. 9 this season.

Another big-time outing by Derrion Reid. It’s interesting how that is starting to develop. Reid seemed out of sorts initially this season. He has his groove now.

Reid put up an easy 22 points with six rebounds on 9-for-12 shooting.

Just pure domination that you know Porter Moser was hoping for. OU shot just under 68 percent for the game and was 12 for 24 from 3-point territory. The 67.8% mark is a single-game record for the program.

OU news/notes

*Another balanced effort. Been saying that a lot this season, but it is still true. Sixplayers in double figures, another with nine points. This team knows how to score the ball.

Xzayvier Brown had 18 points on just nine shots. Mo Wague was one rebound away from another double-double, with 15 points and nine boards. Tae Davis had 12 points and six assists, continuing to show his passing ability.

*Backup center Kai Rogers left the game with 14 minutes left to play. He landed a little awkwardly as he was getting fouled.

It had been a solid game up to that point with six points, two rebounds and a steal in 10 minutes. Moser said it was a sprained ankle.

*Guard Dayton Forsythe did not play because of an ankle injury. He rolled it in the first half last week and warmed up in a boot.

Moser said it was also a sprained ankle for Forsythe, nothing more serious than that.
