A much-needed breather for OU basketball during the mid-week, but no breather for the Unofficial 40 from SoonerScoop.

The five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia) are back to talk all the happenings in the OU sports world.

Officially in the mix of seasons. Winter sports are getting ready for the championship drive. Spring ones are just getting underway. A lot to like for the Sooners across the board, though.

General Manager? NIL? What does it all mean?

But we begin with football and spring practice getting closer and closer. Still a few weeks away, but the conversations keep going.

The inner workings of OU are going through an overhaul. Not to say the previous recruiting department didn’t do its job, but Brent Venables looking for change.

The title du jour making its way through college football? General manager. Schools left and right are hiring their version of a general manager.

In the OU landscape, though, what does that mean? What might those duties look like? How will it help the program?

No. 1 softball not good enough?

Hey, those are the words of Patty Gasso, not ours. Her message is it’s been a little too sloppy for her liking in the initial two weeks.

The Sooners are still the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Now riding a 62-game winning streak and undefeated for more than a calendar year. But it’s about doing it right way. The first weekends, clearly, were not that in Gasso’s eyes.

Get two more, punch the ticket

That’s the motto from Scoop about OU basketball. Get two more wins, somehow, someway, just get it done.

OU finally had its mid-week bye to try to get healthy and refresh and recharge. The stretch run is anything but easy.

The Sooners are still in a very nice spot at 18-8 overall, just need to check off the final box before saying they’re NCAA-bound.

Radosevich has you covered for the first weekend of baseball. McCuistion dives into more football recruiting. A little bit of everything for everybody.

All that and more in the Unofficial 40 from SoonerScoop.
