OU is 4-0 for the first time under head coach Brent Venables. The Sooners look for win No. 5 on Saturday against Iowa State.

The SoonerScoop crew was out in full force following Tuesday’s practice. Here is the best of the best from the players after Tuesday.

C Andrew Raym

How do you get the run game going?

“It’s not about being physical or guys wanting to have the run game. It’s just about being down into the details. We’ve got have people up correctly. We’ve got to block things correctly and we’ll be fine. Run game? We’ll lock in for you guys.”

DT Jonah Laulu

How does BV keep it fun at practice?

“He’s possessed when it comes to football and every day he comes he’s the same person every day. If he’s ever sick or feeling bad you won’t even know, just cause he’s coming every day prepared, he’s coming with that same intensity every day. And he instills it into all of us – the linebackers, Danny and Jaren and the d-line, everybody, the safeties. We meet together and he’s coaching up everybody at the same time and yelling at everybody and asking everybody what are they doing right here. And he’s just going down the line talking to everybody. He just instills that mentality into all of us.”

DE Rondell Bothroyd

Tough to stay hungry?

“No, I think when people do get redundant, that’s when you start losing games and you start losing your way. Even after the game, we held them to six points, that’s like the lowest in however long. But there’s still a list of things that we’ve gotta … we personally didn’t care about the good. We got in the film room and saw the list of bad stuff.”

DE Marcus Striping

Adjusting to new role?

“It’s pretty tough. A couple different plays, different jobs, opportunities. I wouldn’t say it’s hard, though. I just be locked in and focused.”

S Key Lawrence

What changed in January?

“It was just my mindset. I found myself last year just always getting down on myself, questioning things that I can’t control. So I just try to control the controlables. But I definitely just try to live in the moment like I keep saying. You’ve gotta have an attitude of gratitude. I had to learn it the hard way and that was just getting down on myself and I had to pick myself up but understand I can’t get down like that no more.”
