Penn State was able to get Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic wide receiver Tyseer Denmark back on campus over the weekend for an official visit. On Wednesday afternoon, the four-star prospect completed a flip from Oregon as he announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. He stepped away from his commitment to the Ducks on Sunday.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Denmark is the Nittany Lions’ first wide receiver commitment under new wide receivers coach Marques Hagans. Denmark was a longtime target for Penn State before committing to the Ducks back in November.

“I think relationships have always been the main thing with him the entire time,” Roman Catholic head coach Rick Prete told BWI in a previous interview. “It’s not just about the logo. He’s really been focused on the schools that are focused on him.”

Denmark is a longtime Penn State recruiting target

Denmark is the high school teammate of Penn State Class of 2023 signee Jameial Lyons, who just enrolled at University Park last week. He visited several times as an underclassman and took in the White Out the last two seasons.

“I love their facilities,” he told BWI. “I went to their White Out game when they played Auburn. Man, that was crazy. I grew up a big Jahan Dotson fan, and I remember watching him that night. He changed a lot about that game and played really well. The crowd was so into it. It was unreal to me. I really saw what that PA love is like that night.”

A four-star prospect by the On3 Industry Rankings, Denmark checks in as the No. 235 prospect nationally and the No. 40 wide receiver in the Class of 2024. He sits at No. 229 in the country in On3’s own rankings and is the No. 41 wide receiver prospect there. His original top 12 consisted of offers from AlabamaMichiganNotre Dame, Ohio StateOregonRutgersSouth CarolinaTennesseeTexasTexas A&M and USC, in addition to Penn State.

Nittany Lions up to 18 commits in the Class of 2024

Denmark is the Nittany Lions’ sixth commitment from the Keystone State in the cycle. He joins state No. 1 Quinton Martin and No. 2 Cooper Cousins to give Penn State pledges from the top three in-state. The Nittany Lions also hold commitments from Central Catholic linebacker Anthony Speca, Imhotep cornerback Kenny Woseley (No. 11) and Wyomissing two-way lineman Caleb Brewer (No. 14).

Penn State entered the day with the No. 11 class in the country according to the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. Denmark is the 18th commitment for the Nittany Lions in the Class of 2024
