While there hasn’t been any massive South Carolina football recruiting news in the last 24 hours or so, there have been several happenings worth noting, including a couple of new official visits to note, a new 2023 OL offer, and a big-time prospect on campus on Monday.

Cameron Upshaw sets South Carolina football official visit

South Carolina has been a major player for Perry (Fla.) Taylor County class of 2023 three-star safety Cameron Upshaw since he visited the Gamecocks toward the beginning of the year and gave that trip rave reviews.

Upshaw has now set his official visit to South Carolina, announcing Monday that he’ll be in Columbia the weekend of June 10.

While this is the first OV that Upshaw has scheduled, it’s a safe bet that Florida State will likely get one too as the Gamecocks and FSU appear to be the two schools he’s liked the most.

Last month, Upshaw released a Top 14 that included those two schools plus ArkansasCincinnatiFlorida A&MIowaLouisvilleMarylandMississippi StateMichigan StateNebraskaPenn StateVirginia and West Virginia.

Gamecocks make Top 4 for four-star WR Jaden Greathouse

Austin (Texas) Westlake High four-star wide receiver Jaden Greathouse narrowed his list to four schools on Sunday — Notre Dame, Texas, South Carolina and Oklahoma.

Gamecock wide receivers coach Justin Stepp pulled Landon Samson out of the Lonestar State during the last cycle and was able to get Greathouse to Columbia for an unofficial visit this spring.

“Coach Beamer has been recruiting me for a long time and he’s been the same guy through and through,” Greathouse told On3’s Hayes Fawcett this weekend. “Same goes with the coaching staff. They are an up and coming program and building something special.”

Greathouse will get a more complete look at the South Carolina football program on the weekend of June 10 when he takes an official visit, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) — which uses predictions from industry experts, visit data, social media sentiment and historical outcomes on an AI platform to project the chances a player will attend a particular school — currently lists Notre Dame as the heavy favorite with a 93.8 percent chance of landing Greathouse.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – considers Greathouse the No. 122 overall prospect and No. 21 WR in the 2023 class.

South Carolina offers 2023 Georgia OL

Villa Rica (Ga.) class of 2023 three-star OL Jatavius Shivers has had a busy spring in terms of new offers and he added another SEC scholarship on Monday when Greg Adkins and the Gamecocks offered.

The 6-foot-7, 270-pounders also has offers from Florida State — the current On3 RPM leader at 70.7 percent — Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Gamecocks host four-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu

Upper Marlboro (Md.) Charles Herbert Flowers class of 2023 four-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu announced on Twitter Monday that he was in Columbia for an unofficial visit.

The On3 Consensus ranks Umeozulu as the No. 162 overall prospect and No. 20 EDGE in the 2023 class.

North Carolina is the current On3 RPM favorite with a 27.5 percent chance of landing him.
