2026 4-Star RB Derrek Cooper Sets July 20 Commitment Date

Derrek Cooper, the No. 3 running back in the 2026 class per On3, has locked in a new commitment date.

The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep star will announce his college decision on July 20 at 6:00 p.m. CT, choosing between Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, and Florida State.

Cooper originally planned to commit on July 12, but he recently told Inside Texas’ Justin Wells that he wanted to hold off in order to visit Texas during the fall. Despite adjusting the date, Cooper made it clear he’s ready to make a decision, and Texas is firmly in the mix.

Cooper is a big, powerful back with true game-breaking speed. He’s one of the most complete running backs in the country — and his recruitment reflects it.

Cooper is ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect, the No. 3 running back, and the No. 3 player in Florida in the Rivals Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Cooper as the No. 125 overall prospect, the No. 8 running back, and the No. 16 player in Florida.
