At 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, Scherer adds size, technique and versatility to the Longhorns’ offensive line room. He joins Max Wright, John Turntine III, and Nicolas Robertson in the class of 2026.

“(Texas) offer was pretty special,” Scherer recently told IT. “It’s UT. It’s a well-known name and especially around Central Texas growing up. It’s definitely cool. It’s right in my backyard. It reminds me where I’m at and we’re I’ve grown up.”

Where does Scherer project in Kyle Flood’s bunch?

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Scherer. “They sort of mentioned a tweener; where I could end at tackle or guard or center. It’s just wherever they see me best. I want to know how they plan on using me.”

Scherer is the No. 56 OL and No. 108 overall prospect in Texas for the Class of 2026, according to Rivals.
