Game notes

-Texas will begin its 100th season at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The first contest at TMS was an 11/8/24 game that saw UT fall to Baylor. The stadium was dedicated on 11/27/24 to WWI veterans from Texas. UT defeated A&M 7-0.

-Former Texas head coach David McWilliams, a captain on the 1963 national championship team, will be the honorary captain this weekend. The 1963 team is being honored in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Texas’ first national championship.

-UT and the NFF Network will honor 2023 College Football Hall of Fame elected Derrick Johnson with an on-campus salute Saturday. Johnson was a two-time first-team All-American and won the Butkus, the Nagurski, 2004 Big 12 male athlete of the year honors, and wore No. 60 during his final home game.

-Per the Texas game notes, this is the first time since at least 1993 that all five starters from the previous season’s offensive line return. It’s the 11th time in the past 30 seasons in which four starters return.
