I couldn’t agree more with the Devils announcers. My takeaway from game 1 was that the Devils speed bombing down the ice was very dangerous, and every time they got the Rangers to turn over the puck in center ice it turned into a good scoring chance, but the Rangers D and Shesterkin played well to get them a win. It was a 5-1 game 1 win but the the Rangers were very opportunistic on offense.I disagree there, but that sentiment sounds like the Devils post game. I wouldn't be surprised, if this feels like 1994 in 6 weeks.
The Devils announcers are blaming the Devils for getting away from their rush style, in favor of being physical. I think the Rangers size, skill, and experience are winning this series. The Rangers are constantly in the right positions. Any mistakes, are made up for by Shesterkin.
The Devils have tried to play their rush game. It has been shutdown by a good bodycheck or stick. The Rangers are clogging the lanes, and using their strength to win the one-on-one battles. Sadly I was initially right about the NJD being too much of a finesse team. Only the Tampa Bay Lightning may beat this team in the East.
Kane had more good moments in this one game than all of the games since the trade deadline combined together.Apparently the rumors of kanes demise were grossly exaggerated
The Patrick Kane of last night is a huge difference maker.Kane had more good moments in this one game than all of the games since the trade deadline combined together.
LOLOLOL
One thing is that that the Rangers have always matched up with them well, including last year in the playoffs after the Canes were also the top team in the Metro. What is so funny about predicting the top team in the metro will beat the Rangers?
He absolutely is. I was cautiously optimistic that he'd turn it on in the playoffs, but then he was the worst player in the ice in Game 1.The Patrick Kane of last night is a huge difference maker.
Plus, I‘d say there is still a better than decent change NYI win this series. If not for some brain farts by a world class goalie, they’d be tied coming home. There is something correct about the Pat Riley saying - The series doesn’t start until the home team loses. One thing is that that the Rangers have always matched up with them well, including last year in the playoffs after the Canes were also the top team in the Metro.
The other would be that they are missing two of their best players in Svechnikov and Terravainen and that will catch up to them if they get past the Islanders.
Blackwood? He's not even playing nor should he be.You don’t make long term signing decisions based on a series.
Also, where did the Blackwood haters go ?
It wasn’t his fault the team hung him out to dry
This series is over in 4.
Devils are two seasons away from being able to advance
And the Devils are not getting whipped because of lack of size, grit or any of that crap, they've actually stood up to the Rangers in that area, it's everything else that is burying them. Ruff and his staff have been thoroughly out coached, the special teams and our top players (Jack, Nico, Bratt, Dougie etc...) have been no shows and our goaltending has been inconsistent if not just flat out bad.
Yeah we can always use more size, but it has nothing to do with us being down 0-2.
I’ve been right and it bothers you.Blackwood? He's not even playing nor should he be.
And as usual you're overreacting. Two seasons? Lol.
When did I disagreed? You were right we were going to get whipped like this, I didn't see that coming, but I never said they were going to beat the Rangers, in fact I said this in February:I’ve been right and it bothers you.
I told you this would happen for months and you disagreed countless times.
Can they win a series next season? Depends on the matchup but it’s unlikely since they will still be young
Give Luke and Nemec two full seasons and then they are ready to compete
How much of an advantage has it been though? One cup since the cure of polio is not taking advantage of playing in Manhattan. Most of the time getting stars at the end of their prime or past it will backfire, look at all the greats who have donned the Rangers jersey in the past couple decades and then look at the results. It's not been pretty.Let’s remember ny got Kane and Tarasenko for absolutely nothing.
The team has a major advantage of playing in Manhattan
Great point here - putting Brendan Smith in and moving Wood up to third line while scratching Boqvist has been a disaster for Ruff.NJD have their work cut out for them. I think @krup and the broadcasters have it right - NJD should lean into their skill. Those are the type of players they have. They aren’t going to out beef anyone. They need to open up more, not less.
True. For cups. Not true for almost every other objective measurement (more wins than losses, almost always in the playoffs, no last place finishes, making money, etc.). And that is the problem. Fans wanted cups. The corporate ownership wanted numbers. I don’t know all the facts, but I do have a few. I know for a fact that in the MSG operating budget, for many years, was the assumption of 2 playoff rounds. Not winning a cup. Just asses in the seats. So yeah, Manhattan is great. But, for those prices, you damn BETTER put on a show. You BETTER get names/excitement to draw. All that affects decisions made. And you get just enough talent to be a little better than ok for almost every year. So, you have year after year of not only not WINNING big, but WAY more importantly if you want players that get you championships, not LOSING big. They haven’t finished bottom 5 in over half a century. No other team can say that. Even other big market clubs that have the same pressures. All others have all bottomed out at some point. NYR never got into that lose big, win big cycle. Just a lot of avg to above avg play. And in typical NYR fashion - they are gifted 2 lottery wins and those guys seem more like 3rd line pluggers than kids you can build an entire championship team around (like Hughes). How much of an advantage has it been though? Not sure if out coached is the right term.Outcoached? I'd be interested in @zappaa s comments on that.
I don't think the goaltending has been weak, only bad in comparison to Shesterkin
Not denying the Rangers have an advantage of players wanting to come to NYC, but from all accounts Tarasenko only wanted to come to NY and was having a weak year by his standards, and it still cost NY a first rounder to get him and Mikkola (not absolutely nothing).Let’s remember ny got Kane and Tarasenko for absolutely nothing.
The team has a major advantage of playing in Manhattan
The Rangers are head and shoulders better, they match up extremely well, just as they did last year, and the fact that Carolina is missing 2 of their best players. What is so funny about predicting the top team in the metro will beat the Rangers?
Unless the fix alot of things devs are still at least 2 years away.Blackwood? He's not even playing nor should he be.
And as usual you're overreacting. Two seasons? Lol.
Proud, nothing is funnier than you predicting we wouldn't even be here in January
I almost wish you were right lol.
I mostly agree with those commentsUnless the fix alot of things devs are still at least 2 years away.
If im fitz heres what im doing this offseason
1) acknowledge your team is small and softer than baby ****. Address that.
2) Let timo walk (he stinks and has been invisible)
3) trade Bratt for assets, hes not gonna sign with the devs long term unless they pay him $8.5+ and he aint worth that
4) sign bertuzzi, max domi and hathaway. The devils need some pricks. Theyre too easy to play against
Then have the cap space for July 1 2024 and make offers to Sorokin and Hellebyuck that they cannot refuse. If they keep the status quo, theyre screwed
Hamilton is grossly overrated IMO. Granted he can score from the point, but that's about it for him. So far the Rangers have clogged up the front of the net & he can't get a shot through. Lousy defenseman--soft, coughs up the puck, no speed among other shortcomings.Hamilton has been MIA so far.
When you have to keep trying to convince people this hard you know hockey, it usually means you don't.I mostly agree with those comments
We both understand hockey pretty well
There is so much wrong here (some is not though like Bratt)I really ain't got the time right now. Maybe later.Unless the fix alot of things devs are still at least 2 years away.

We’re both more knowledgeable than you that’s obviousWhen you have to keep trying to convince people this hard you know hockey, it usually means you don't.![]()
Sure thing champ lol. We’re both more knowledgeable than you that’s obvious
I mean it genuinely. The devs are very soft. Kreider could bring a lawn chair off the bench and park it in front of the net on the pp if he wanted to.There is so much wrong here (some is not though like Bratt)I really ain't got the time right now. Maybe later.
I will say this, I get you hate the Devils the same way I hate the Rangers, but try to bury that hate when you're going to try to give your take on us. Like the soft as baby ****, you're just trying to be a tool.
It would be pretty dumb to let Timo walk given that he is under team control for another year so if you don’t want to give him the big qualifying offer you can trade his rights to recoup at least part of what you paid for him.Unless the fix alot of things devs are still at least 2 years away.

This guy ronnie b knows nothing haha reading some of his posts ittWe’re both more knowledgeable than you that’s obvious
