UCF transfer CB Chasen Johnson commits to USC

Former UCF cornerback Chasen Johnson has committed to USC out of the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Johnson will have three years of eligbility remaining.
Johnson originally entered the NCAA transfer portal during the winter window in December, and eventually announced that he was committing to play for Rhett Lashlee and the SMU Mustangs. He even went so far as to sign with the Mustangs, who would later release him from his signing and with the intention of returning to UCF. He would re-enter the portal during the spring window, though.
Overall, Johnson played 452 snaps during his true freshman season. The started four out of the final five games and had a total of 14 tackles with two pass deflections before ending the season with 18 total tackles.
The Trojans, as well as Auburn and South Carolina all had their eyes on Johnson when he originally entered the portal in December. It took a few extra months, but the Trojans have secured his commitment heading into the summer stretch of the offseason with multiple years of eligbility to work with.
Before college, Johnson was a three-star recruit according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 1,103 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 118 overall cornerback.
