If the Irish tried to get something like this through.
College basketball has lost the plot.

How is this possible? Don’t you lose all eligibility when you enter the NBA draft? Did I miss something?

I mean if Diego Pavia can get the horrid NCAA to say that Juco doesnt count as college, i guess anything is possible, nothing should surprise anyone whatsoever anymore.

Do we assume he was getting paid to play in Spain?

Mean while, we can all assume Oyne request will be denied. Kind of mind blowing when you really sit down and think about it.

Everyone focuses their complaints on college football but basketball is what is truly broken, hopefully not beyond repair but it’s not good right now

Just spin off these athletic departments and let them function separately from a university's core function and tax it all.

Changing majors on occasion should be good for 3 year eligibility extensions.

This is going to be a massive problem now, all it takes is one guy like this to be allowed back in after being drafted and the floodgates will open. These billionaire donors along with these college GM’s are not going to stop pushing this craziness and I really think congress is going to be forced to step in over the next few years.

I believe if he doesn't sign a pro contract, he's not a pro, thus he's an amateur.
AND can get paid by a school which doesn't make sense at all!

Personally, I think jucos were generally 2 years, meaning he would be a junior eligibility-wise when he first stepped on a big-time college campus. The guy had a solid couple of years, but I'm not sure I want to spend an early-round draft pick on that dude given the attitude he showed regarding the Heisman voters. A starting QB is one of the most public faces of an NFL franchise, and if Pavia doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut or at least be civil about his frustrations, I don't want him on my team. He was a good college QB, but at 5'9", he'd have to be beyond awesome to think he could keep his style of play in the NFL when everybody else runs a lot faster and his sandlot playing style will get him killed by ultra-mobile LBs and safeties. I'm not a fan of the guy.I mean if Diego Pavia can get the horrid NCAA to say that Juco doesnt count as college, i guess anything is possible, nothing should surprise anyone whatsoever anymore.

Somewhat related, but a friend of mine wrote this about midseason college hockey additions:
I asked him how this was possible considering the dude played professionally, and he said in the NCAA’s eyes, ECHL players apparently don't make enough money to be considered more than "actual and necessary expenses" so they're now being cleared.

I will ask becasue I really don’t know, but HS baseball players get drafted by Major League Baseball teams all the time and they can still play baseball in college. Did he ever play in the NBA or in the G league or in the professional league in Europe? If not, I really see no problem with it.
