Next AD

What AD will want to come here with Barnhart still “involved” within the program? With his new role, I would bet it was lined up for Hill or Baker. They wouldn’t be bothered by him still around. I know Strickland was under MB here but he’s a different situation than Hill/Baker since he’s been removed from the program for such a long time. I hope his parachute deal draws enough criticism that Hill/Baker can’t get the job done. Optics are so bad right now and Eli/Mitch are tone deaf. Microwave knuckleheads.

Because that’s what everyone expects to happen. Everybody knows how UK athletics works at this point, so this would be their chance to surprise us all. I don’t think it’ll happen.

Exactly. Andy Staples made the same comment 3 days ago. It’s very unlikely that anyone besides Hill or Baker will be comfortable taking that job knowing that Mitch is omnipresent and will always be involved behind the scenes. Hill and Baker would sign up for it because it’s the only way either one of them will ever be a P4 AD. But as guys like Jeff Drummond say “Hill is a highly qualified candidate” for those that are happy with the current state of UK athletics.

Unfortunately it will be Hill. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Yes it will be Hill. If it ends up being Baker then there will be the undeniable evidence that JMI now controls all of UK athletics.

I would bet money on it won’t be anyone on uk campus. Because Kentucky admin can’t sale that to the biggest boosters or the common fans.

She needs to go anyway. This is a major conflict of interest. Thes could turn into a mess. You are right that Eli and Mitch need to go. They have destroyed the UK brand.

They don’t worry about the fans. Not sure what the boosters perspective is.

Who needs boosters when you have the backing of almighty JMI? 🙄

All I know JMI didn’t hurt them one time getting elite transfer portal football players in January.

I saw somewhere that Hill has connections to Utah Valley st and his daughter went to BYU. Is he mormon? Is that why they pivoted to Pope so fast and if so would Hill give up on Pope after year 3 and fire him? There's so much false info on Twitter I dont know if that stuff about Hill is right so I'm just asking

I believe you will find this to be true in just about every single place you get information from. In every facet imaginable not just UK sports, staff or administration related info. It goes way beyond our problems.

That has not the reason why pope was chosen to be the HC at Kentucky. A person religion at public university like Kentucky has no reason why they are hired. Plus it will not be up to hill because he won’t be the next at Kentucky

Its just speculation that Hill will be just like Mitch. Honestly no one knows anything about him. He has worked in the background. He should be at least good for football since he been AD over football for years. Any idiot can do a better job with basketball than Mitch.

Kentucky needs a dynamic business leader with modern ideas on NIL and revenue generation if they want to stay above water in the future. They don’t need a retread who’s equally focused on women’s water polo as men’s basketball.

This is absolutely what they need, nailed it. Sadly I think there is a less than 1 percent chance that is who they hire

He has been with UKAA for over 20+yrs. If you are good, you work your way up and out for an AD job elsewhere. Otherwise, you are a glorified 'yes man" to the AD, who happens to still be on the payroll for some reason and will 100% be involved in decision making. I am sure Hill is a nice guy but the optics of him becoming AD is horrible. Not as bad as Baker though.
