Counting down the Alabama roster three players at a time. Next up for the 2023 series: outside linebackers Jeremiah Alexander and Quandarrius Robinson and defensive end Hunter Osborne.

35 OLB Jeremiah Alexander

2022: As a true freshman, Alexander appeared in four games. In working at outside linebacker and on special teams, Alexander recorded the first tackle of his Alabama career (Louisiana-Monroe).

Of note: Alexander spent 2023 spring drills pushing for a spot with the 2s. In the A-Day game, he joined early enrollee Qua Russaw in working with the White (second-team) defense. Alexander finished the scrimmage with three solo tackles, including two for loss, and a sack. In taking down wide receiver Jalen Hale for a loss in the spring’s final practice, Alexander showed some drop ability in pass coverage. Also worked a tackle/end game to record a sack of Dylan Lonergan in the fourth quarter. Alexander is capable edge setter in the run game whose continued development as a pass rusher will go a long way in determining his ETA where a role of significance on defense is concerned. Role on special teams is likely to expand during upcoming season.

34 OLB Quandarrius Robinson

2022: Robinson saw action in all 13 games, with most of his work coming on special teams. Finished his third season in the program with seven tackles and a half sack. Picked up special teams player of the week honors from the UA coaching staff following games against Vanderbilt, Arkansas and Austin Peay.

Of note: With Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell out of for April’s A-Day game, Robinson was first outside linebacker up in the scrimmage. As a member of the Crimson (first-team) defense, Robinson produced two sacks. His speed rush proved especially problematic for left tackle Elijah Pritchett in the scrimmage. A recipient of the Woodrow Lowe Linebacker Award at the close of spring drills, the long and rangy Robinson is similar to classmate Braswell in that he has added bulk during his time in the program. Still, it is against the run and when the need to convert speed into power in the pass rush arises that he’ll need to answer questions about every down viability. In addition to being counted on to provide leadership on special teams, Robinson heads into fall camp as the third guy at his position.

33 DE Hunter Osborne

2022: Wrapped up prep career as the nation’s No. 21 defensive line prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Enrolled at Alabama in January and took part in spring drills in March and April.

Of note: As expected, Osborne broke in with the defensive line during his UA practice debut in the spring. Came on in the A-Day game to see time for the White team defense. Given the depth Alabama has at the position, developmental year likely on tap for the newcomer, with an emphasis on gains in speed, strength and technique.

What we wrote about Osborne upon his signing in December: “Base five technique end with frame to grow into a 290-pound utility linemen who can play inside or outside depending on the package that is in play. Plays with power and solid technique. Stacks and sheds, keeps his outside arm free and closes well on quarterbacks and running backs.”
