The Florida Gators are seven months removed from winning the program’s third National Championship. Florida had some key pieces from last year’s squad move on from the program, with some of those names called in the 2025 NBA Draft. One of those players includes guard Will Richard, a current rookie for the Golden State Warriors. Richard was in Orlando on Tuesday for a road game against the Magic. While back in the Sunshine State, Richard was not only presented with his Florida National Championship ring, but had it hand delivered by UF head coach Todd Golden and assistant coach Carlin Hartman.

Will Richard continues to have a special 2025

It’s been quite the year for Will Richard. He was part of a Florida Gators squad that recorded an impressive 36-4 record, and capped off the season with a National Championship victory over Houston. As a result of that season and Richard’s strong play, the Warriors drafted him in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Furthermore, Richard has started 5 games as a rookie so far this season. In his first start earlier this month, he dropped a career-high 30 points in a 121-116 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Golden State shared a clip of the ring presentation from Todd Golden, where it shows Will Richard sitting next to former Florida hooper and current Warrior teammate, Al Horford.

After he was given the ring, Richard stood up in front of his NBA teammates for a short speech.

“Won one of these in college,” Richard said in front of his Golden State teammates. “Looking forward to winning one here.”

Richard has a bright future ahead of him in the NBA

Will Richard was a key member of Florida’s 2025 national championship squad. This past June, he was selected by Memphis with the 56th pick in the 2025 NBA draft, then traded to Golden State. Richard had a strong preseason for the Warriors, then began the season with a promising start in October, averaging 5.7 points a game for the month. So far this season, Richard is averaging 9.1 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He’s also shooting a 57.7 field goal percentage so far this season as a rookie.

“Will was amazing,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Richard’s first start. “This guy, from the beginning of camp, has shown he’s an NBA player. The experience, the poise, he doesn’t turn it over, he makes the right play. He can handle the ball under pressure, he makes the right pass. This guy’s a hell of a player.”

Next up for Will Richard and the Warriors is a game against the Miami on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. As for the Florida Gators, they take on Merrimack on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. An incentive for those in attendance is that fans will receive a replica ring commemorating the program’s recent National Championship.
