The Georgia Bulldogs aren’t afraid of taking underrated talent and developing it on the defensive line, and they may have another one on their hands in their latest addition, three-star defensive tackle Nnamdi Ogboko. Ogboko’s signing was just formally announced by the team.

A three-star prospect from Garner, North Carolina’s South Garner High School, Ogboko originally committed to the Bulldogs in late June of this summer. He ranks as the No. 747 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking for the Class of 2024, as well as the No. 69 overall defensive lineman for the cycle.

Ogboko, a native of Nigeria, measures in at 6-foot-4, 355 pounds and is quite new to the game of football having played just two high school seasons.

Still, those who know him well believe that the Bulldogs can help him develop into the best version of himself.

“Nnamdi fits at Georgia because he responds well to being coached hard. He’s not about the glitz and glamour. Our Assistant Head Coach/defensive line coach Brian Yarborough has done so much to get the best out of Nnamdi,” South Garner head coach Greg Greene said. “The work is what brought him this far, and it will be the work that allows Tray Scott to elevate his game under Coach Smart’s leadership. Dawgs recognize Dawgs!”

Despite a hard push from Notre Dame, among others, Ogboko remained solid in his commitment throughout.

“I’m starting to get more people come up to me and say, ‘Aren’t you that guy who’s committed to Georgia?’ People recognize my hard work. I’m staying humble and blessed,” Ogboko told BGI’s Mike Singer this fall.

That dedication is no surprise to Greene.

“Nnamdi is an amazing human being first and foremost,” Greene said of the Bulldog pledge. “He’s an extremely good student and a hard worker. He works out each morning at 5 AM and after practice in the evenings perfecting his craft.”

Scouting Report on Nnamdi Ogboko

“He’s new to the game as he just started playing in June of 2022, but over the last twelve months, he’s developed violent hands and a better understanding of his own strength,” Greene said. “He’s a true anchor in every since of the word. He’s got a wide base with good footwork from a background in basketball. He eats and splits double teams really well. I look forward to seeing him progress into someone that can do it at the SEC, Tray Scott, Kirby Smart level.” – Greg Greene, South Garner head coach, on Nnamdi Ogboko
