Georgia checked a lot of boxes for Lawrenceville (Ga.) Mountain View four-star defensive lineman Justin Greene.

The No. 108 overall prospect in the On3 Industry rankings has pledged to the Bulldogs. He took an official visit to Georgia on June 2-4. The Bulldogs nailed the official visit.

One of the things that has been hammered home with Greene since Georgia offered was their need for him to join them. The Bulldogs have lost a lot of firepower at the five-technique, and more could be on the way to the NFL.

Greene felt needed at Georgia and that could see him have an early impact. Those factors helped the Bulldogs pull in one of the top defensive linemen in the state of Georgia.

“I’m pretty certain that I’d be able to rotate in when I get there, they don’t really have any defensive ends,” Greene said. “I think I can make an impact early.”

Greene also has high hopes for how Georgia would develop him. The same reason the Bulldogs need him is one of the reasons why Greene is attracted to the Bulldogs.

Georgia develops defensive linemen, and they send them to the NFL. Over the last two years, Georgia has had six defensive linemen drafted, five of which were drafted in the first round.

“It’s definitely how they are going to develop me,” Greene said. “All those draft picks they’ve put out lately have made it clear what they can do defensive linemen. I definitely think they can help me with my journey and just with where I want to go and what I want to do with my life after college.”

Official visit opened Justin Greene’s eyes to a few things

On his official visit this past weekend, Greene saw a lot of things that he’d seen before, as he’s no stranger to Athens. Greene had visited Georgia three times since the calendar changed to 2023.

The distance from home was already a plus and something Greene had been considering for some time.

“That’s pretty important to me; I don’t want my family traveling the entire weekend to come watch me play,” Greene said. “It’s good to be close to home.”

Greene was also able to put on Georgia’s uniform for the first time. He sported the No. 95 he wears at Moutain View.

“That felt good,” Greene said. “It was a good feeling.”

Greene was able to sit with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart for the first time. He’d spoken with Smart in passing and in short, but in this meeting, Smart confirmed that Greene was a priority.

“They were already high on my list going in, but they’re solidified now,” Greene said.
