Georgia has kept the inside linebacker pipeline full, and four-star linebacker Kris Jones is the latest addition to the room, with the Bulldogs officially announced his signing today.

A 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender from Fairfax, Virginia’s Fairfax High School, Jones ranks as the nation’s No. 148 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking. He also ranks as the No. 11 inside linebacker in the cycle and is the No. 2 prospect in Virginia according to the same rankings.

While highly ranked, Georgia fans didn’t get to see much of the standout defender in his senior year, as Jones spent much of his senior season dealing with a torn ligament in a toe which required surgery. In fact, the injury was revealed while on a visit to Athens.

It’s just part of the care the young star has felt from the Bulldogs throughout their relationship.

“Georgia has been pretty good to me and my family each and every time that I have been down there,” Jones told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson. “They treat me and my family like they’re family. It was really good going down to Georgia. Me talking to coach (Glenn) Schumann was great. We’ve built a great relationship over these past couple of months.”

The Bulldogs were long involved for his services, as well, having recruited Jones for over a year prior to his commitment in late July of this year.

“When I got the news, I was excited because Georgia is one of my dreams schools,” Jones said. “Coach Schumann called and said we evaluated the tape from the camp and gave me things I need to work on for the upcoming season. He also said that he liked me as a person, my character, and my family. I have a dream of playing in the NFL, and I know Georgia’s coaching staff is more than equipped to get me there.”

Now, he’ll bring his sizable talents to Athens to work under Schumann’s tutelage and compete in what looks to be a loaded room for years to come.

Kris Jones chose the Bulldogs over Michigan State and Florida, the latter of which was considered a heavy favorite to land his services at one point.

“They’re going to develop you as a player at Georgia,” Jones told Johnson. “The team feels like family. There’s a connection with the teammates you’ll have. They also did a great job with the stuff for my major. I want to major in Kinesiology. They had me sit down with some of the academic advisors as well.”
