The Georgia Bulldogs have officially added a major piece to the offensive front in the Class of 2024, as Marcus Harrison has been announced as a signee by the program today.

Harrison hails from Athol, New York’s St. Francis High School and checks in as the nation’s No. 318 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking. In On3’s own rankings, however, he’s ranked much higher, coming in at No. 146 in the On300.

The 6-foot-5 and a half, 335 pound offensive tackle has kept a low profile throughout his recruitment, especially since committing to the Bulldogs in late May.

His high school head coach, Jerry Smith, shared some thoughts with DawgsHQ regarding Harrison, however.

“I think that, number one, they’re an established program with a history of sending guys to the NFL, especially left tackles. That’s his dream. Most guys his age, that’s what they dream of. You have a program that’s well-established with a great coaching staff,” Smith said. “At that level, everyone has all the bells and whistles, so you can’t get overwhelmed with that. It comes down to how comfortable do you feel. He met the players and felt comfortable with them. They’re two-time National Champions. He wants to accept the challenge. If you’re going to do that, why not accept the challenge from the top program in the country?”

On3 Scouting Report on Marcus Harrison

“Jumbo offensive lineman with flexibility and run blocking chops. One of the bigger offensive linemen in the cycle, measuring at over 6-foot-7, 335 pounds with 33.75 inch arms and 9.75 hands prior to his senior season. Primarily lines up at left tackle, but bounces around the line on occasion. Flexible in his stance, lining up with a flat back. Stays low off the snap. Does a great job playing low while blocking much shorter defenders. Sinks his hips and drops his weight on contact. A grinder as a run blocker. Shows good balance. Good hand usage in pass protection, neutralizing pass rushers’ moves. Also throws in track and field, posting a 51-5.5 foot shot put toss as a junior, an elite mark. Will need to adjust to the uptick in competition coming to the SEC from Buffalo, New York. Foot quickness is solid for his size, but can improve in that regard. Can also improve his overall play strength and finishing ability relative to his size. Could slide inside at the next level given his skill set as a run blocker.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings, on Marcus Harrison
