Georgia’s recent successes on the recruiting trail continued into Wednesday, and this time, the Dawgs turned their attention back in-state landing the commitment of three-star EDGE prospect Quintavius Johnson.

Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defender, hails from Atlanta’s Mays High School.

He becomes Georgia’s second commitment of the week, joining 2025 cornerback Tae Harris of Cedartown High School.

Johnson is the nation’s No. 567 overall prospect and No. 51 overall EDGE in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking.

DawgsHQ’s Rusty Mansell mentioned Johnson as a name to know on Monday.

“Love the story of QB turned DL in Quintavius Johnson from Mays. I actually did his first ever game on TV as a Freshman and he looked like Darnell Washington running around at QB. Fast forward and his now 6-foot-5, 260 pound DE,” Mansell said. “…This is an athletic, raw guy that has a TON of ceiling left. I see it every year in the NFL draft, a player that comes out of no where and gets drafted. This year YaYa Diaby played at North Clayton and wound up being a 3rd round Draft pick at DE. This kid has so much in front of him, so just tuck him away for down the line.”

Quintavius Johnson continues Georgia recruiting heater

Johnson is just the latest of what’s been an incredible run for the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting trail over the last month and a half.

Since May 15, Georgia has been one of, if not the, hottest teams on the trail.

No. 1 overall prospect and top quarterback Dylan Raiola set off the chain, and since then, punter Drew Miller, tight end Jaden Reddell, tight end Colton Heinrich, offensive lineman Marcus Harrison, defensive lineman Justin Greene, running back Chauncey Bowens, defensive lineman Jordan Thomas, and the aforementioned Tae Harris.

Georgia’s EDGE outlook

There’s still meat on the bone for the Bulldogs when it comes to the Class of 2024 and EDGE, even with Johnson now aboard.

Five-star Plus+ prospect Dylan Stewart has officially visited Athens and continues to be a name worth watching for those following along.

Elsewhere, four-star EDGE Jordan Ross remains in serious contention for the Bulldogs, with Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn all giving heavy chase, as well.

In-state prospect CJ Jackson is also one of the names the Bulldogs are keeping warm, and there’s some strong interest on his end.

It’s safe to say outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe and defensive line coach Tray Scott can finish out the cycle with an outstanding group.
