The No. 1 player in the country for the Class of 2024 was in Los Angeles to see Georgia beat TCU Monday night. Yes, that would be five-star-plus quarterback Dylan Raiola of Chandler (Chandler, Ariz.) who recently backed off of his commitment to Ohio State. Before he committed to the Buckeyes this summer Georgia was pushing hard but ultimately missed out. On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons says that the Bulldogs might have a second chance.

“He made a pretty big splash by being at the National Championship Game on Monday night, and he does have a sister that plays volleyball at TCU so there’s obviously a dog in the fight there, but Georgia is a team I think to watch here,” Simmons said on The Inside Scoop On3 Football Recruiting Show with Josh Newberg. “At one time, this time a year ago, Georgia was probably trending as the top school for Dylan Raiola. Other schools got involved, USC, Ohio State and obviously committed to the Buckeyes but Georgia never went away. There’s been communication. Yes, they do have a commit at the quarterback position, but Raiola is still a prime target for the University of Georgia.”

Simmons added that Lincoln Riley and USC as well as new Nebraska coach Matt Rhule are certainly still involved here but would put Georgia in as his prediction today if he had to.

Simmons spoke with Raiola on Monday after the game, and he had high praise for the Bulldogs’ performance, a 65-7 win for their second straight championship. Raiola called Georgia “first class” and said that the way the Dawgs do things in Athens “is different.”
