Georgia just sent an offer to international ‘freak’ Emmanuel Okoye. If you aren’t already familiar with Okoye’s work, you probably will be by the time National Signing Day comes around.

Okoye grew up in Nigeria and currently works out with the NFL Academy in the United Kingdom. As of this article’s publication, he has offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Colorado.

How did this fast-riser at defensive end – who only has three games of football under his belt – pick up all these scholarship offers and attention?

Well, take a look at the 6’5″, 228 pounder for yourself. I think you’ll see that the ceiling is… uh… pretty high for this chap.

Emmanuel Okoye is a raw talent, but industry experts and P5 coaches alike see the potential

Allow On3’s Chad Simmons to set the stage for Okoye:

“FREAK athlete… Have talked to some that know this young man and RAVE about his ability and athleticism.”

Okoye spent much more time playing basketball and soccer growing up in Nigeria. Then he had a chance to show his stuff at a NFL Africa camp.

That’s where former New York Giants defensive end and fellow international footballer Osi Umenyiora‘s Uprise Academy reportedly scouted Emmanuel Okoye.

Don’t let Okoye’s lack of football experience outside of camp setting fool you, though. He had to start somewhere.

Now, he’s on the international stage as an intriguing American football prospect at the NFL Academy.

Watch the basketball film and use your imagination.

You don’t have to be a scouting expert to know that athleticism like this could potentially translate well on the line of scrimmage.

A potential Dawgs connection

If you look at the tweets that Okoye sends out to announce his American College Football offers, you’ll see former Dawgs wide receiver Kris Durham among the mentions.

Durham is currently the Head of Football at the NFL Academy in the UK.

He would know a thing or two about playing professionally in the states and in Europe after his eight-year career playing in the NFL and Italian Football league.

Fans always look for any edge possible that can help their school in this recruiting game.

Maybe that Kris Durham connection works in Georgia’s favor as this Emmanuel Okoye hype train gets moving.

Maybe it amounts to nothing.

Wherever he goes, that school’s football coach may not be the only one trying to recruit Okoye to the team…
