Georgia’s 2024 class now has 24 commitments. The Bulldogs added their third pledge in as many days on Friday in mammoth offensive tackle Nyier Daniels. He chose UGA over Texas, Florida State, and, the home-state school, Rutgers.

In Daniels Georgia gets a physical presence and a guy who was very high on their board, likely as high as the Bulldogs No. 2 offensive tackle target in the 2024 class. His junior highlight film illustrates why Stacy Searels placed such an emphasis on getting him into this class.

Searels had plenty of help, too. Daniels has known Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown since his freshman year of high school. Brown was just down the road at Rutgers at that time and began recruiting Daniels early on.

The tag team of Searels and Brown got Daniels to visit Athens multiple times and the Classic City did the rest.

“It was somewhat like home when it comes to the people,” Daniels told DawgsHQ in a telephone interview. “The environment, you want to surround yourself with good people so you can do good things. Those are the people you’re going to be with most of the time, 24/7 when you’re in college. It was like home but like the one time I went to the practices and I just sat there and watched and I was like, ‘this ain’t nothing too special,’ I can make myself a fit here.”

On3 Scouting on Nyier Daniels

At 6-foot-8 370 pounds with 11.5-inch hands and 36-inch arms, Daniels is the nation’s No. 160 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes the rankings from all four recruiting coverage websites. He’s also the No. 13 offensive tackle and the No. 2 prospect in New Jersey.

“Behemoth offensive tackle prospect with intriguing upside due to his massive frame and above average movement skills. One of the biggest prospects in the 2024 cycle. Measured at around 6-foot-8 370 pounds prior to his senior season. Has elite length and a very large frame with arms that measure around around 36 inches and hands that exceed 11 inches.

“Daniels as continued adding weight heading into his senior season. Primarily lines up at left tackle for New Jersey powerhouse Bergen Catholic. A bully in the run game. Mows opposing defensive linemen as a drive blocker. Has rare body quickness for a lineman of his size. Shows fluidity in his movements and very good ankle flexion for such a big lineman. Further along as a pass blocker at this stage. Has a tendency to bend at the waist and lunge in pass protection. Has a tendency to play high and will need to work on his pad level. Does not register as a top athlete in the limited athletic testing data available. Will likely need time to reshape his body once in a college strength program. Younger for the cycle, turning 18 years-old weeks before his first college game.”
