Iowa running backs ready to compete for carries

One year ago no one knew that Kaleb Johnson would emerge as an All American, rushing for over 1,500 yards and setting the single season mark for touchdowns. One year later, Johnson is in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Iowa running back coach Ladell Betts is now also in professional football coaching with the New York Giants.
That means there’s a whole lot of change going in in the running back room and Kamari Moulton and T.J. Washington are vying for the lead role at the position, which is now coached by Omar Young. On Wednesday Moulton and Washington spoke about the competition at running back, how the group is supportive of each other, and Washington also talks about a potential role in the Tim Lester offense catching passes.
