John Wall raised some eyebrows and broke some hearts in Big Blue Nation today when he released his bracket for USA Today. The former Wildcat went against the school that made him a star by picking Wichita State to upset Kentucky in the
second third round of the NCAA tournament. To make matters worse, he predicted Florida, an old college foe, to win the title over the Shockers in the end. Bad form, John. Bad form.
Michael Lee of the Washington-Post
tracked Wall down today to ask him why he went against his Cats. Wall told him,
“I was putting pressure on Kentucky. I knew everybody was going to make a big deal about it but that’s me putting motivation on the team. I know how good those kids are. I know how talented they can be.”
“I want them to win. I want them to make it far,” Wall added. “They’ve got the talent, it’s just about figuring it out. I think it takes time, but hopefully they figure it out at the right time. Wichita State is a good team. I feel like we got a great team that can beat them, matchup wise. I made that decision to see if they going to react to it.”

We forgive you, John.
