Jon Toth (Finally) gets an NFL Contract

Mark Zerof | USA Today
Kentucky’s iron man at center was the victim of terrible timing, but he has persevered to join a thriving NFL franchise.
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Jon Toth to their practice squad, according to Jeff McClane. There’s arguably no better team to play for right now than Philly. The 10-1 Eagles are rolling through the competition and have the best record in the NFL.
During a tumultuous time in the Kentucky football program, Toth was a consistent rock in the middle of the offensive line. He started a record 48 straight games for the Cats. The injury bug stayed away, until it was time to take the biggest step in his career to the NFL.

Following the NFL combine, the first team All-SEC lineman had severe back pain. Toth was forced to have surgery to repair a disc in his back just weeks after the NFL Draft. The timing of the injury could not have been worse, but he went right back to work.
Today Toth’s perseverance was rewarded with a contract for the NFL’s best team. Somewhere Freddie Maggard is smiling from ear to ear.
