Oscar Tshiebwe scores 1,000th point in Kentucky uniform

For the first time since 2012, a Kentucky men’s basketball player has scored 1,000 points as a Wildcat.
On Wednesday night in the first half of action against Florida, Kentucky center Oscar Tshiebwe recorded his 1,000th career point on a banked-in mid-range jumper. Tshiebwe came into the game needing 15 points to hit the 1K mark and wasted no time at all making it happen. The 6-foot-9 senior started 7-7 against the Gators, recording exactly 15 points in the first half of play to reach the threshold. He is now the 61st player in program history to surpass 1,000 points.

Tshiebwe is the first ‘Cat to reach 1,000 career points since Doron Lamb did so back in 2012, which actually came during Kentucky’s national championship victory over Kansas.
Tshiebwe recorded 590 points during his first season with Kentucky in 2021-22 before breaking 1,000 points in year two on Wednesday night. He needed just 60 games played to do so. Tshiebwe now trails only Bill Spivey (1,213 in 63 games) for the most points scored by a Wildcat in just two seasons.
