Read 'Em While You Got 'Em
As Joker looks to elevate the status of the Kentucky football program, continued positive press is a must. So while we may have scoffed last year when Calipari called draft night the ‘best night in UK Basketball history,’ tonight that rings a little truer for Kentucky football. With Derrick Locke, Ricky Lumpkin, Chris Matthews, Moncell Allen, DeQuin Evans, and of course Randall Cobb all looking to find spots on a team in next years NFL, tonight (and tomorrow for those whose names aren’t called until later rounds,) will be huge.
So keep all that in mind as we wave goodbye to some of our favorites from the past few years. Along with that, ESPN has a nice write up on Derrick Locke and Randall Cobb on what it took to get them from undervalued prospects to potential draftees. There’s not a whole lot of new info, but it includes some good quotes from Joker on both, and like I mentioned earlier, it’s this type of positive press that pays off on the recruiting trail.

(And for what it’s worth, McShay has Cobb going to the Seahawks late in the second, and Locke going late in the sixth to Denver.)
