2024 Langston Hughes (Ga.) wide receiver JoJo Stone has shut down his recruitment, he confirmed to The Bengal Tiger staff on Thursday. The LSU commit was expected to visit Texas this weekend, but instead will officially visit Baton Rouge.

Stone committed to LSU last July and said he’s “most definitely” shut down his recruitment, confirming what his mother posted on Twitter. The culture around the program is what stands out to him.

“Everybody knows I love LSU. Love the Boot, love the state of Louisiana, I love the SEC,” Stone told On3 this spring. “I love the coaching staff at LSU, I love the culture of everything. Coach Brian Kelly and what he’s doing at LSU, it’s definitely big. I’ll be home probably six more times before football season starts.”

How the Tigers played in Year 1 under Brian Kelly and the program moving in the right direction are also important for Stone when it comes to LSU.

“When you’re down there and you feel the energy in the room and how everybody’s together on one page trying to get one thing done,” JoJo Stone said. “As you can see this year, they kind of proved that by what they showed on the field. Coach Kelly coming in and having 10 wins, beating Bama at home. The 2024 class is high in the recruitment rankings right now. It’s just moving in the right direction.”

He took an official visit to UCF on June 3-5 and Louisville last weekend. Other programs that were pushing to land an official visit from Stone are Florida, USC, Florida State and Penn State.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 304 overall prospect in the nation and No. 53 wide receiver in the country.

JoJo Stone scouting report

“Versatile athlete who plays a number of positions for perennial Georgia power, Grayson High. Plays quarterback, running back and wide receiver at Grayson. Shows good agility and adequate play speed with the ball in his hands. Has worked out as a wide receiver on the camp circuit, but could also project as a defensive back at the next level.

“Shows a good feel for working in space as a ball carrier. Has grown over an inch since his sophomore year, now checking in around 5-foot-10.5, 180 pounds. Does not have many athletic testing numbers to speak of, and ran track as a sophomore with a personal best of 11.70 seconds in the 100 meters. Has some genuine positional ambiguity that should be hammered out moving forward.”
